Foundation: Covergirl Trublend Liquid Makeup and Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

A few months back, I decided go try the CoverGirl TruBlend Foundation because my Etude House had broken me out really bad and I needed something for everyday use.

I was supposed to get the CoverGirl Outlast Foundation but it was out of stock so I resorted to getting the TruBlend instead. It wasn't locally available here in the Philippines so I got mine online for only 400 Php and I have in the shade L5

According to the CoverGirl website:
"truBLEND Liquid Makeup is available in 21 shades and features a new shade-matching system. To find your perfect blend, first determine your shade family. Second, choose your number. Coordinate complementary truBLEND products based on your number for a seamlessly flawless nude look that blends in and virtually disappears."
I personally like it because of its natural finish on me. Coverage wise, it's not the best one, I have to admit, but I think I have reached that point in my life where in a full coverage foundation is the answer to all my problems. Haha!

I lasts for about 4-5 hours on my skin before it starts to break down and show all my imperfections to the world. It doesn't have any scent to it as well.

Another reason why I like it is because of the packaging, it's in a bottle container, it has a pump and it locks as well. It's very travel friendly.

I hasn't broken me out yet and I have been using it for about 3 months now and I still love it.

Another foundation that I have been loving these past few months, would be a full coverage foundation. I use it whenever I feel like I need to look more put together and whenever I'm going out not for work.

The foundation I'm talking about is the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation. I got it from the same online store for only 330 Php and I'm in the shade classic beige.

Before purchasing this product, I searched for reviews online and I found out that this tends to oxidize and it was suggested that you purchase a shade lighter that what you normally have.

Now why do I like this foundation? First,  it's full coverage and it's really matte. It just has a little scent to it but it doesn't bother me at all.

It stays intact for 6-8 hours before it starts to wear off. You'll just have to make sure you blot every now and then.

This product reminds me of the Revlon Whipped Foundation but I prefer the Rimmel one beacause it comes in a squeeze tube container which is way more hygienic compared to the Revlon one which comes in a pot.

Just like the TruBlend one, this foundation hasn't broken me out as well even after using it for about 3 months now.

Now at the moment, I do not have a picture of the swatches yet but I'll be updating this post with those pictures soon!

Comment down below if you have tried these foundations yourself and suggestions are very much welcome.

FACE MAPPING: What your breakouts are telling you.

I have had 3 major cystic acne breakouts on the left part of my chin in the past few days so I decided to look it up online. Breakouts on the chin area apparently are hormonal breakouts, you'd tend to get them usually when it's "that time of the month" and according to my research, breakouts on this area appear on one side or the other depending on which ovary is ovulating that month.

With this new knowledge of mine, I've come up with my own face mapping guide to help us get a better understanding of what's going on in our bodies and skin.

So without further ado, I present to you this visual guide of what your breakouts are telling you.

1. Forehead. Breakouts across the forehead are usually cause by sleep deprivation or stress. Make sure you get at least 7-9 hours of sleep at night to keep your forehead clear.

2. Above the brow. The area above the brow is affected by your immune system. Breakouts happen here right before, after, or during a cold or flu. If you notice a breakout on this zone, slow down for a couple of days, drink lots of water and eat immune boosting foods.

3. Between brows. Breakouts between the brows can be cause by overindulgence of unhealthy food or a food allergy. Cutting back on sugar. dairy, and alcohol can help clear up the skin on this zone.

4. Cheeks. Your cheeks are linked to your respiratory system. Smoking or breathing polluted air can cause breakouts here.

5. Side of chin. The sided of your chin are affected by hormones. Breakouts here occur around "the time of the month" and happen on one side or another depending on which ovary is ovulating that month.

6. Heart. Check your blood pressure and Vitamin B levels. Decrease intake of spicy or pungent food, cut down on meat and get more fresh air. Apart from these, looks into ways of lowering down your cholesterol like replacing "bad fats" with "good fats" such as Omega 3 and 6 found in nuts, avocados, fish, and flax seed. Also, since this area is chock-full of dilated pores, make sure that your make up is not past its expiry or is skin clogging.

7. Kidneys. Anything around the eyes, including dark circles point to dehydration. Drink up!

Comment down below if this is of any help. Suggestions are very much appreciated. Thanks for dropping by!

New Skin Care Routine

A few months back, I started adding organic stuff for my skin care routine. I started with the Pure Organic Argan Oil, Aztec Clay Mask. I've blogged about it before and as of now, I stopped using the Argan oil mainly because I already ran out of it and I didn't really see any effect of the said "liquid gold" on my skin. I was however great for my lashes. It made them thicker and healthier.

For my NEW Skine Care Routine, I still do the cleanse, tone and moisturize twice a day every day. And twice a week, I put on my favorite Aztec Clay Mask diluted in Organic Apple Cider Vinergar.

For y body, I still use the ever beloved Avon Naturals Wallnut Soap, every other day. I use the Kojie San Soap on a daily basis. For underarms, I use a new deodorant that I am really loving right now.

Daily Routine:

Facial Cleansers:
> Morning: Royale Beauty L-Glutapower Anti-ageing Facial Soap
>Night: Raw African Black Soap

Toner:
>Morning&Night: Eskinol

Moisturizers:
>Morning: Garnier Light Moisturizer (minimal, very minimal)
>Night: Raw Shea Butter

Weekly Routine:
>Aztec Clay Mask
>Organic Apple cider Vinegar

Body Soap:
>Avon Naturals Wallnut Soap (every other day)
>Kojie San Kojic Acid Soap

Deodorant:
>Nu Skin Deo

Hello September!

So I have been in MIA again for about 3 weeks again. A lot of things are going on in my life right now and I was just really too busy to blog. Here’s a list of the things or updates that I have as of 31Aug2014.

1. I have a new dog. Haha! Yes, I’m a crazy dog lady. I have a total of 5 dogs now and the newest member of my furfamily is a 2 year old teacup Pomeranian named “Betty”. She’s so tiny and shy. She’s very different from my playful pug and mini pin. Betty is also soooooo super clingy! She always wants to sit on my lap and just that. She only trusts me and my youngest brother.  Haha!

2. In relation to my furfamily, my pug Polly got sick 2 weeks ago. I thought she had epilepsy because she would just go stiff and passout randomly for several times and I got really scared!! She has complete vaccination so I am sure that she safe from distemper and all that shit. We observed her for 3 days and then took her to the vet since she didn’t show any improvements. The vet confirmed that it’s not that serious, the temp may have had something to do about it but she prescribed a medicine for the nerves and Polly has never again passed out. The vet also suggested Anti Heart Worm Shots for Polly and all my other furbabies. Better safe than sorry.

3. I have a new office crush! haha! We’ve been hanging more lately and things are doing fine. I do not foresee anything between the two of us, maybe because I do not want to expect anything. I think it’s just a simple, plain and innocent crush, nothing serious or crazy. It’s just nice to be excited to see someone on a daily basis. I feel so high schoolish now! haha!

4. I’m currently organizing a team building for 25 people on September 20 and 21, 2014. The team leaders that I am with want a TEAM BUILDING complete with activities and not just a TEAM BONDING with just plain eating, bonding, singing, etc… I hope everything goes well for this team building.

5. After the team building, we will be having a company party. I’ll have a separate post about it, probably after this and I’m just really excited for it!

6. Since it’s the 01 September today, I will be waking up extra early tomorrow to have my nails done and to have my eyebrows threaded. I can actually just do my nails at home but I prefer it be done by professionals as I don’t want to injure myself. I have done that a lot of times in the past and I hate it when that happens.

So that’s about it so far with my life updates and it’s 115 days to go before Christmas!!!! Haha!!

Thailand Radish Soap and Snail Soap

During my stay in the province, I had a lot of insect bites on my arms and legs.
These insect bites left not so pretty markings on my skin and I searched for ways to get rid of them. When I got back to Manila, a friend noticed the markings on my skin and suggested that I try this so called Radish Soap from Thailand. Out of curiosity, I contacted an online seller of the said products and ordered 2 soaps. I got the soaps from an online store Radish Soap for Php 150 and Snail Soap for Php 120.

The Radish Soap claims that it’s good for insect bites and acne marks on the body, the Snail Soap on the other hand claims that it’s good for oily skin on the face and gets rid of blemishes as well. I searched more about these Thai products online and I’m surprised to see that a lot of people claim that product worked for them.

It took the courier 3 days to deliver the parcel. Upon opening the boxes, I find the packaging really cute specially the Radish Soap.
I’m just a little bit disappointed on how small the products are.

I will be using these soaps starting tonight and I’ll be posting updates to keep you posted. J

Organic Skin Care

Aloha peppermints! So today, I received the organic skin care stuff I ordered online. It’s a perfect timing because I received them right before I get ready to go to work. After taking a bath, I immediately tried the Argan Oil. I ordered the 15ml bottle (Php330); I came in an amber bottle with a very posh type of dropper. Yes, a dropper. It smells nutty, not fragranced. I only used one drop and it was enough to cover my entire face. I also ordered 50g of the Aztec Clay Mask (Php75). The seller was pretty generous and ever gave me a free sample of her raw shea  butter. J Thanks thanks!

Here’s a photo of what I received.

Here’s the Argan Oil and the posh dropper. What you do is you press the button on top of the bottle before you open it to get the product into the dropper.

At night, I tried the Aztec Clay Mask. You mix it with either tap water or organic Apple Cider Vinegar but I used water as I’m not that much of a fan of the Apple Cider Vinegar. Upon mixing the Clay Powder and tap, I think I may have used too much powder. I used one tablespoon of the powder and about 4 tablespoons of water in order to get the right consistency.

In using the mask, you’re supposed to leave on your skin for just 20 minutes. As for me, I needed another extra 20 minutes making it a total of 40 mins because I wanted to feel the mask tightening up first before I rinse it off.

The mask really felt hard on the skin when it dried up. I feel the mask vacuuming the skin on my face and I liked the feeling that I couldn't smile anymore because I feel like my face is going to crack if I smiled! Haha!

After rinsing the mask off, my skin was super red and a bit warm. I applied two drops of Argan Oil all over my face and left it like that.

Hopefully I wake up with an okay skin tomorrow. I’m not expecting too much on these items as it’s the first time I’m using them anyway.

I'll be doing a weekly update about this new skin care routine.

What does it look like to you?

I'm back from a reading haitus and I wanted start with light reading as of the moment.

I picked up Jennifer Smith's "This is What Happy Looks Like". I just started last night and I could not move on from what I've read so far..

"Sunrises over the harbor. Ice cream on a hot day. The sound of the waves down the street. The way my dog curls up next to me on the couch. Evening strolls. Great movies. Thunderstorms. A good cheeseburger. Fridays. Saturdays. Wednesdays, even. Sticking your toes in the water. Pajama pants. Flip-flops. Swimming. Poetry. The absence of smiley faces in an e-mail.

What does it look like to you?"

This made me realize that sometimes, I tend to overthink what real happiness is..

It made me remember the simple things that make me happy, a sweet treat, waking up to see my dogs still curled up under the covers, hearing my favorite song, sweaters on rainy days, a pink lipstick, chill day in the office, seekng my crush before I go home, leavjng the office early, many other stuff..

It may not actually be just me, a us search for happiness above, over and beyond, anywhere and everywhere but find nothing.. I think it is because real happiness should start within ourselves.

I guess we just always have to be thankful for just being able to wake up each and every day to experience our "happinesses" whatever form they take.

So, what does you happiness look like??

C

and the journey begins today

As I have mentioned in the past, I have been suffering from severe hormonal imbalance. Side effects of which are irregular menstrual cycle, weight gain, break outs, etc...

I researched online and I found out that unhealthy lifestyle and diet are the main culprits. It is suggested that people suffering from hormonal imbalance to increase their intake of organic fruits and vegetables. I have to say, during my 7 day stay in the province, I had eaten nothing but organic fruits and veggies as my grandma grows them. In that time, my skin has actually been better compared to when I got back here in Manila.

I was actually advised by the OB to take in birth control pills on a monthly basis pero I don't like the idea of taking oral pills every day on a monthly basis. I tried it for 3 months and I did work but I would like to go on a more natural way of solving my problem.

I actually am in a "Fitness Diet" now. Trying to live a healthier life. Hopefully mapangatawanan ko to. I have to replace 2 meals with the fitness cereal instead and I'll eat it with my Organic Soy Milk. I never really liked soy milk but the one that I bought tastes really really good.

To help me keep up with this diet, I'll be doing a food diary here for 14 days. You can actually do this with me of course! I think it's a good way for me to make sure that the blog is updated on a more regular basis. *keeping fingers crossed*

back from my MIA Moment

Aloha peppermints! Here I go again. I was MIA for more than two months because I have been cray cray busy back in June with a lot of birthday celebrations and client visits and by July, I went to the province with my mum and brother. I enjoyed my time there, I had a great time getting in to know my relatives in the province. I'll be blogging about our vacay soon! Some sad news though, my boyfriend and I had broken up about a month ago and I'm in that point in my life that I'd rather see people walk out it than deal with all the BS forever...

Another reason that I haven't really blogged in the past few months is because I have been really stressed out and breaking out really bad.. I think my hormonal imbalance contributes to this as well, so I have been finding ways on treating my break outs and balancing my hormones.

I'll be sharing with you the things I do and things I use as well. if you do have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to share as I need all the help I could get in living a better life and being a better person. :)

*I think the photo on top would give you an idea of how much fun I had in General Santos City.
More of these on my next blog.

Update: Etude house Cotton Fit BB Cream

I'm still thinking if I had chosen the correct title for this entry or not.

I would actually want to talk about what happened to my skin after a month not using foundations, just this BB CREAM.

As i have mentioned before, the bb cream has been doing a great job in not giving me any breakouts. Last Sunday, I tried using my ever trusted Maybelline Dream Mousse Liquid Foundation and guess what? It gave me breakouts!!

It’s such a bummer because I used to love that foundation until it broke my skin out and it never really did that before.

I guess I have to stick to the BB Cream a lot more now as I wouldn't want my skin breaking out again.

That’s it for the update. Nothing much about the BB Cream, it’s more of like an entry in my “Break Out Diary” haha!

Good night!

Bash it or Buy it? NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Milan

So this lip cream is my second and I’m not as crazy about it as I am with San Paulo.

The shade is called Milan and it has a cool toned light pink shade. The color pay off is nice but it tends to emphasize the lines on my lips as it is a lighter shade.

I’m not sure if it has a different formula or anything but I feel like it’s a bit more drying on my lips compared to San Paulo.

I can see it as an everyday color, like an MLBB (my lips but better) shade that’s safe to wear everyday.

Verdict: I wont bash it but I wouldn’t purchase it again either. This will be my last Milan tube. :)

Next month I’ll be reviewing two more shades! Watch out for it! :)

*Photos will be uploaded on a later date :)

April Favorties

So the month of April has been over for almost two weeks now and I was only able to find time to write about my last month's favorite today.

Here's a list of all the things that I have loved for the past month.

* Etude House Cotton Fit BB Cream
I have blogged about this couple of weeks ago and my thoughts about the product remain the same. I still am loving the product to its bits and pieces. :)

* Celeteque Acne Solutions Toner
My holy grail toner, it's mild on sensitive skin, helps in oil control, affordable! The big bottle only costs around 120 to 150 PHP

* Thanaka by UNO
I had my doubts about this product and I took me a while before I convinced myself to try it out. I use it as a mask every other night before I sleep and I wake up with a very nice skin in the morning! :)

* NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo
The same with the BB Cream, I have blogged about this one and I still am loving it. I bought a new shade and I'm not so obsessed with it unlike this one. I'll blog about the new shade soon!

* Maybelline Volume Express Hyper Curl Mascarra
This I think would be on my favorites every single month! Holy grail for me! I've been using this since college, I checked out other mascarras but I still haven't found anything that can replace this favorite of mine! I have also recommended this mascarra to a lot of girls and they love it as much! :)

* Sweet Pea by Bath and Body Works
This cologne has a very light sweet feminine scent that I think is perfect for summer

* Royale Beauty L-Glutapower with Glutathione and Vitamin E
I have been using this soap on my face for two months now. I love it because it doesn't break me out, it leaves a squeaky clean feeling on the skin plus it minimized my pores!

So these are the products that I loved for the month of April. I'm not too sure if there would be any changes for the month of May but I'll let you know.

Tata for now!

Vatican declares Popes John Paul II and John XXIII saints

This day marks a very important event for many, specially Christians and Catholics as today is when two former popes are declared as saints by Vatican. Some even call this day "One Sunday Four Popes" because 4 popes were in the said event, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, Pope Francis XIV, Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXXIII.

Brief History: (article taken from BBC)

"The Year of the Three Popes" came in 1978. Pope Paul VI died at the age of 80. His successor, elected in a single day, took the name John Paul in memory of his two predecessors. Thirty-three days later he, too, was dead.

Once again the College of Cardinals conducted the centuries-old ritual of a papal election in the Sistine Chapel. After two days of deliberation, Karol Wojtyla became the next successor to St Peter.

Taking the name John Paul II, the new pontiff signalled a new era in Catholic affairs. He was dynamic and approachable, an instantly recognisable leader for the world's largest Christian community.

Above all, he travelled. On an early trip to Ireland, he appealed to the men of violence to return to the ways of peace. American Catholics saw him reject all calls for a change in moral teaching.

I remember when I was in high school, I was asked; "If you can talk to someone, dead or alive, who would he/she be and why?" My answer? "Pope John Paul II because I have a lot of questions, about heaven, God and him and I want to see the kindness the kind smile that he always wears in person"

I personally love Pope John Paul II as I see him as a very good person, he has that smile on his face that makes you feel the kindness in his heart. I envy my dad so much because unlike me, he was able to see St. John Paul II in person when he first came here in PH.  However, I still feel blessed that I am part of the generation who really got to know St. John Paul II. :)

Key dates:

1920: Born near Krakow, Poland
1946: Ordained a priest
1964: Appointed Archbishop of Krakow
1978: Elected Pope
2005: Died, beatification process begins
2011: Beatified
2014: Canonised

I would like to share to you the prayers to St. John Paul II and St. John XXIII.

Prayer to St. John Paul II:
St. John Paul, from the window of Heaven grant us your blessing! Bless the Church that you have loved, served and guided, pushing Her with courage towards the paths of the world to bring Christ to all, and all to Christ. From the window of Heaven, where we see you next to Mary, send down upon us all the blessing of God. Amen.

Prayer to St. John XXIII:
St. John XXIII, Your simple and meek persona carried the scent of God & the desire of goodness was inflamed in the heart. Pray for us so that we do not limit ourselves to mourn the darkness but rather to enkindle the light, bringing Christ everywhere and always praying to Mary. Amen.

Lorde collaborates with MAC

So I was reading through my fb timeline and I came across this article  saying that Lorde will be  collaborating with MAC for a collection set to be released early June 2014.
The collection was said to feature a dark purple lipstick and black eyeliner. Which basically what sums up Lorde’s signature look.
I’m excited to see the whole collection as I’m a self confessed Lorde fan, I love dark lipsticks and I’m curious about how the packaging would look like! :)
I got this pic online and I think Lorde looks stunning here!

Bash it or Buy it? NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo

A friend of mine recommended this lip product a few years back. It took me a while to get one for myself for two reasons. First, I have always been skeptical about matte lip products as I was under that impression that they are drying on the lips. Second, we didn't have NYX here in PH until just last year. When I found an online store that sells the product for a way cheaper price than they were in the stores, I decided to give it a try.

It comes in a lip gloss like container. It’s like a "liquidy-cream" lipstick. I chose the shade San Paulo as I see it as the perfect shade for me. Not too bright, not too pink neither too red. I love how pigmented it is. The longevity’s pretty decent too, plus I love how it smells! Reminds me of ice cream! ♡♡♡

It applies as cream but then dries matte. It’s not drying on the lips as well. I think this particular shade looks good on any skin tone as some of my friends, light and dark skinned, tried it and it looked good on all of them!

I’ll be purchasing more shades and will upload more reviews about them once I get hold of them! :)

Verdict? Obviously BUY IT!!!

Etude House Cotton Fit BB Cream Review

A friend of mine went to Seoul, Korea and got me a BB Cream as a “pasalubong”. I have never been a fan of BB Creams since I first tried them put a few years back. I tried bb creams from missha, skin food, skin 79, maybelline, 4u2, etc and I didn't like their dewy finish, the scent of most of them, some have shimmer on them, most of them are sticky and just made my face look more oily than it already is.

However, when I got my hands on this particular one, I couldn't stop using it since then. This one’s way different from those that I've tried in the past. I like this BB Cream for the following reasons:

* matte finish
* does a great job in evening out skin tone
* very lightly scented, it has a powdery scent to it
* doesn't break me out
* doesn't feel heavy and sticky on the skin
* looks natural on me

I love this bb cream and I hadn't reached out for any of my foundations again since I started using this. It doesn't have the coverage that a foundation gives me and it doesn't last as long as well but I don’t really mind.

It comes in a squeeze tube with a pump. That merits a plus on my book. The shade that I have is called Natural Beige, they have two other shades, a lighter one and a darker one I just couldn't remember the shade names.

I've been using it for over almost two weeks now. I’ll be posting an update review after a month of using the product to see if what I feel about it remains that same or if it has changed in any way.

I hope this review help you in any way.

happy 2014!!!

Hello again! I have risen from whatever and I'm back with vengence!!

Haha! It's the new year and I have a feeling that this will be a good one, better than the last I think.

This year I look forward to more travels within the country and at least one outside the country. I'll be travelling to the south by mid year with my whole family and I'm excited!!

I'm thinking of having a major career move but a lot of things are holding me back. We'll see.

Another thing I'm excited about is my puppy's pregnancy. I really hope she goes through this pregnancy without any problems.

I want to blog more as well. I know I can do it, I just need to find time for it.
